Information about Busselton
Busselton is usually thought of for its 2KM long jetty and gentle turquoise bays, but there is a lot more to see and do. All of the great attractions and accommodations make Busselton a great place for a family vacation.
Don’t take it from us: Busselton has twice been voted to be Australia’s top tourism town.
The historic jetty, constructed in 1865, holds the distinction of being the longest wooden south of the equator. Make sure to visit the Underwater Observatory located at the end of the jetty, where you’ll view tropical fish and colorful coral up close and personal.
Viewing the marine life from eight metres below sea level will give you an entirely new appreciation for these darting creatures. All in all, there are over 300 species enjoying the warm water, created by the Leeuwin Current.
Once you’ve had your zoological fix, head to the new canal and marina development just a bit north of town. This is a perfect spot to enjoy a quiet drink.
You’ll also find activity along Busselton’s main shopping street, with an old courtroom and jail that has since been converted to an arts centre.
We couldn’t forget the beaches! Over 30 kilometres of pristine white sand beaches run north and south of town. With opportunities for water-skiing, scuba, snorkeling and sailing, you’ll never have to look too hard for something to do. If you’d rather stay on land, head to the beachfront fun park for a carousel and racing cars.
Busselton is only three hours south of Perth, and right in the heart of the Margaret River Wine Region. This entire area is famous for its scenic landscape and wonderful, relaxing wine tours. A particularly pleasant time to visit is in September, October, and November, when all of Busselton’s wildflowers are in bloom.
