"Berkana" was built in 2000, using the universal design philosophy. Lots of windows and light are crowned by a rich wood lined vaulted ceiling and there is high quality timber flooring throughout. The atmosphere is uniquely Blue Mountains with a modern and extremely comfortable feel about it. Warm in winter cooler in summer the carefully planned aspects of "Berkana" means all year round comfort.
There are 3 bedrooms, 1 queen sized with a large ensuite, walk in robe and a lovely view of the native garden and surrounding pine trees, while the second bedroom has twin beds and built in robes and faces the front veranda which overlooks the Azalea and Rhododendron garden and the passing country lane.Third has a double bed. All have polished wood floors and scatter rugs, bedside reading lamps and the portable phone hand sets can be taken anywhere in the cottage. Linen, sheets and towels supplied.
The dining table is 2.4m long and can seat 8 easily and has seen many a lively dinner party. You'll find cutlery, crockery, cooking implements and a range of electrical appliances in the spacious kitchen and walk in pantry.

The open plan cottage has a large space for living, adjacent to the dining area and kitchen. The towering vaulted ceilings crown rich timber floors and comfortable furniture including a comfortable 3 seater lounge (which is also a sofa bed) and 2 single seat armchairs around the romantic wood burning fireplace.
There is also a beautiful polished wood drop front writing desk and the entertainment centre including cable TV, CD/DVD/Video and a large range of books and games. All this is centred around a wonderful slow combustion wood burning fire that easily heats the whole house on the coldest days and nights. When it is less cold there is natural gas heater and on warm summer days simply open the windows and let the gentle breezes cool you down.
Wake to the freshest of fresh air tinged with a gentle aroma from the giant pine and gums trees that pervade the area. And listen to the native birds singing their dawn chorus.
The cottage is near the village with at least 5 top restaurants one of which, Vulcans, has a 2 Chefs Hat Award and level access. There are 2 pubs, numerous cafés, a bustling village life with bakeries, butcher, vegetable shop, small village supermarket, art galleries, craft and clothing shops. And if you want to leave for the day there is a railway station with hourly trains into Sydney or Katoomba.
The cottage is only a 15 minutes stroll to the beginning of a bushwalk which ends at the famous Govett's Leap lookout.
