Remote isolated outback eco wilderness safari camp in Australia's Northern Territory TopEnd ...The Gulf. Great for air tours as it is fully accommodated. Guided tours from the safari camp include fishing, barramundi, canoeing, gorges , caves and bird watching. 7 day air tour safaris from Melbourne can be arranged with Kirkhope Aviation in a 10 seat twin engine aircraft...a great way to get to Pungalina and see some of Australia's outback.

Pungalina offers you a total wilderness Eco experience all at the one location. The camp is situated in a lush grassed area adjacent to a natural underground thermal spring near the Calvert river. The site provides a safe and healthy water supply and the springs are perfect for that early morning or afternoon swim. Guests stay in spacious, fully insect screened individual or twin share tents, in comfortable beds with doonas. Each tent has its own permanent lighting. Maximum of 12 guests so this is a great way to "escape the crowds".

A dining room tent is situated next to a bubbling spring, although many meals are served outside in the shade. A central marquee accommodates kitchen and food storage and is adjacent to the popular outside cooking facility. A separate shower block provides mains type pressure showers, hand basins and flush toilets. There is plenty of hot water. Meals are prepared using locally grown vegetables and fruits (when available), high quality local meats and any barramundi or other fish that may be caught.

CLIMATE
(Apr - Oct) Dry season. Hot and dry, up to 35°C (95°F) during the day and 20°C (70°F) at night. Some cold nights in the first few months are possible.

GETTING THERE BY PLANE
Best time is between April and November. To fly from Mount Isa will take approximately one and a half hours. We can suggest flights for you from anywhere in Australia ( eg Darwin, or Townsville). Air tour charters from Melbourne in a comfortable twin engine aircraft are our specialty.
