Experience a taste of life on a working cattle station in Australia's vast interior, yet be only 20kms from Alice Springs, that famous town at the heart of the legendary "Outback".

Janice Heaslip invites you to join her at historic Bond Springs Station homestead, nestled in the picuresque, rugged MacDonnell Ranges on this 1515 square km cattle grazing property.

Historic Bond Springs Homestead is sited on the banks of a tree lined creek, a tributary of the normally dry Todd River within the majestic MacDonnell ranges. The Homestead is twenty minutes drive north of Alice Springs and a further fifteen minutes from the town's busy airport.

Bond Springs Station is a working cattle station spread over 1500 square kilometers of arid zone land. The Station is owned by the Heaslip family , a family with long traditions in the outback South Australian and Northern Territory pastoral industry. At Bond Springs Poll Hereford cattle are bred for local and international beef markets.

For many years Janice Heaslip has opened her homestead to discerning guests seeking to experience a little of the life on an Australian Outback cattle station and to share with her the natural beauty of this unique place.

Janice has renovated and restored the homestead's guest accommodation in the style of "early Australiana" appropriate to the historic significance of the house. This "labour of love" is appreciated by all who visit Bond Springs Homestead as Janice has acquired some fine pieces to establish this decor. But above all the accent is on comfort. For the guest Bond Springs Outback Retreat is a place to relax and be pampered.

Corkwood Cottage

Situated a short walk from the Homestead, Corkwood Cottage was originally built for the station's head stockman and his family. Corkwood Cottage is fully self-contained with three bedrooms. A wide shady verandah surrounds the cottage in the true tradition of an Australian bush dwelling, an ideal spot for morning coffee or to relax in the early evening to catch the magestic, ever changing colours on the distant hills as daylight fades. Don't be surprised if a kangaroo hops through the garden, or a dingo howls in the distance. At night you'll be far enough away from extraneous light to fully appreciate the truely remarkable spectacle of the southern night sky. The full moon rising over the MacDonnell ranges is a sight you'll never forget. Corkwood Cottage is attractively furnished in the style of "early Australiana". With three beautifully appointed bedrooms, a comfortable lounge and dining room and a private bathroom. Corkwood is equally suited both to a couple seeking a romantic "getaway" complete with a touch of luxury, or to a family enjoying a bit of togetherness. The Cottage is airconditioned, and heated in winter.

The Wurlie

Once the "foreign residence" of the Heaslip children on "leaving home" and named by them after the traditional Aboriginal brush shelter, this station cottage has been transformed from it's humble beginnings to comfortable guest accommodation. "The Wurlie" is fully self contained with two attractively furnished bedrooms, one with a queen-size bed, and the other a king-size bed which can split to allow twin beds if required. A casual lounge dinning area and kitchenette and a private bathroom complete this cottage suite. The quintessential Australian verandah fronts the building with its wide views across the station to the distant MacDonnell Ranges. This is the ideal spot for that pre-dinner drink or a laze with a book. The cottage is airconditioned and heated in winter. The Station homestead is only a stone's throw away. "The Wurlie" is versatile accommodation being ideally suited to couples travelling together or to families, while still providing charm and romance for only two people. The young Heaslips certainly found it so in their day! Special tariff rates are available for families choosing to stay in either cottage.
