Situated nine kilometres from Queensland's highest town, Ravenshoe, just 1200 Metres from the Kool Moon Creek Headwaters Trailhead The Pond Cottage is tucked away amongst acres of plantation timber, overlooking a wide tree-fern lined pond that is fed by the property's own spring. Ravenshoe is midway between Cairns and Undara Lava Tubes making The Pond an ideal "halfway" stop.
The cottage is decorated with artifacts and curios collected during your hosts fifteen years in Papua New Guinea, and you will find many unique and unusual pieces, all with an equally unusual story behind them.
Anne and David were known for their generous hospitality as hoteliers in both North Queensland and Papua New Guinea, and now invite you to join them at The Pond.
The cottage is fully self-contained, including washing machine, you have exclusive use of the facilities during your stay.
Self-cater in the fully equipped kitchen or dine locally at the Ravenshoes' Historic Hotels.
The first twenty 45 metre tall wind turbines are installed at the Windy Hill Wind Farm. Eventually there will be 42 of the turbines with blades 22 metres long revolving at about 30 revolutions per minute. Windy Hill is 5 kilometres from Ravenshoe on the Kennedy Highway and just 14 kilometres from The Pond.
In winter there is a glass fronted wood fire to take the chill away and help you relax in the lower temperatures at this altitude.
In summer the cool change that occurs as the sun sets will make your nights more pleasant and maybe entice you to stay longer to explore all the attractions that the Cairns Highlands has to offer.
And you can also enjoy the Spa, for that extra little bit of relaxation.
