This beautiful three bedroom home was originally built in 1946 and lovingly restored in the style of that era. All the furnishings are cosy, comfortable, luxurious and extensive.
There are magnificent views of the mountains and the beautiful Derwent River from the house and its gardens with raspberry bushes and numerous fruit trees as well as a working vegetable garden, that we encourage guests to enjoy.
Pioneer Cottage is not just holiday accommodation, its your home, away from home. It is lavishly furnished with a mix of new and antique furniture, carpets and rugs and fully appointed with all the comforts one could expect including heating and air conditioning.
There are three beautifully appointed bedrooms, a king, queen and two king single beds with the option of two singles in the king room. For your comfort all the beds are fitted with electric blankets.
You can relax in front of your favorite movie in the lounge room, fully equipped with a large TV and DVD player or escape to the living room while the kids watch a noisy movie and listen to something more soothing on the stereo CD player and read a book.
If you'd rather be outdoors, there's a great deck with fabulous views just off the living room complete with a modern gas BBQ and lovely wooden outdoor furniture.
Downstairs is the very cosy "Boat Shed" our gazebo where you can chill out with a delightful local wine and take in the view.
The large fully fenced grounds have lovely gardens and a working vegetable garden and fruit trees that we encourage guest to enjoy.
The bathroom has everything you need including a shower separate to the lovely deep bath tub - excellent after a long days hiking.
If you decide to spend a night in, there's an excellent fully equipped country kitchen with stove, fridge, microwave, toaster, electric kettle and everyone's favourite toy - an espresso/cappuccino machine.
The house has a fully secure garage with remote and internal access and there are three bicycles and all the safety gear for your ventures around the town or for your leisurely rides along the beautiful river parklands.
You will truly need nothing more than your toothbrush and a change of clothes to enjoy your stay at Pioneer Cottage.
Only a short walk from the house you can stroll through the beautiful parks along the Esplanade, right beside the Derwent river. There are numerous walks or bike rides you can take along the river and they truly all are beautiful.
The house is only a two minute walk from the heart of New Norfolk where you will find bakeries, grocers, butchers, cafes and restaurants as well as our three historic pubs.
The town of New Norfolk is also a mecca for antique collectors with more than six excellent antique shops scattered around the town.
If sightseeing is on your agenda, New Norfolk is the gateway to the Derwent Valley with Mt Field National Park and its lovely bush walks and waterfalls is only forty minutes away.
Historic Richmond with the oldest bridge in Australia and the old Richmond Gaol as well as a famous Traditional Sweet shop is a thirty-five minute drive.
Port Arthur is an hour and a half away and you can get to Huonville and Dover in two hours
The Tasmanian wine trail begins only ten minutes down the road with one of the many excellent vineyards and wine makers scattered throughout the region.
