Set amidst 50 acres of secluded wooded country, nestled in the beautiful Penguin Valley, only 3 kms from the North West Coastal town of Penguin, Tasmania, Australia. The property offers an abundance of birds and wildlife at your doorstep.
The self-contained accommodation is in an original miners' cottage built in 1903 that has been renovated whilst still retaining its historic beginnings. The cottage sleeps up to 5 adults or 4 adults and 2 children and includes: main bedroom - sleeps 4 (queen bed and trundle bed - 2 single sleeping positions); the second bedroom has 2 single beds which can be joined to form 1 king size bed if required. A cot and highchair are available on request.
The fully equipped kitchen includes electric cooker, microwave and fridge/freezer. There is a lounge and separate dining room. A washing machine is provided for clients' use. All linen and towels are provided. Breakfast provisions are included, with home-baked bread and eggs from our free range chickens when available.
Things To Do and See
Penguin gained its name from the colonies of fairy penguins common along this stretch of coastline, with Glenbrook House and Cottage located only 3 kms from the beach. There are twilight viewing sessions nearby where you can watch the penguins clamber ashore after a day's fishing in Bass Strait.

Gunns Plains – Caves, Wynyard - Tulip Farm, Latrobe – Chocolate Factory, Burnie – Cheese Factory, Sheffield – Town of Murals.
You can also enjoy bushwalking and horse riding. Try Ferndene Gorge and Mt. Montgomery State Reserves in the nearby Dial Ranges.
Within Penguin you can visit historic St Stephens Church and the Uniting Church, Hiscutt Park with its working Dutch Windmill, tulips (seasonal) and lake with platypus.
Try the scenic drive to Ulverstone via the coast road, passing islands named the Three Sisters.
Dog Friendly Details
Guests to bring their own dog's bedding. Dogs are allowed inside the cottage, but not in the bedrooms or on the furniture. There is a fenced garden around the cottage but dogs must be kept on a leash when outside the garden area as we have sheep, ducks and chickens on the property.
