Only 5 minutes by car from the CBD and Salamanca and 10 minutes from the airport, Roseneath is a classically designed, colonial-style sandstone home set in 2000 m2 of beautifully landscaped gardens, with full, daylong sun. Sandstone walls shelter the gardens from the street and provide quiet and secluded accommodation for guests.
From its position on the heights of Rose Bay, guests have sweeping and spectacular westerly views, both day and night, across the Derwent River to the Tasman Bridge and to the city nestled at the foot of beautiful Mount Wellington.
Guests may choose between
a) a self-catering unit/studio featuring Tasmanian blackwood, with a small fully equipped kitchen area, which opens out onto the pool and garden area; or,
b) one of 4 in-house rooms.
The unit and each in-house room has its own fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, TV, electric blankets and electric heaters. All have ensuites (1 spa).
Fresh homemade biscuits or cakes are provided in the unit and each room and are replenished daily or sooner if our guests are very peckish!
Start the day with a breakfast freshly cooked to order. By prior arrangement, Alain, the owner and French chef, is very happy to cook dinner for his guests. Dinner is served in the dining room, which is furnished with French Queyrassine and Tasmanian furniture, and has beautiful views over the Derwent River, the Tasman Bridge and Mount Wellington, or in the sun room which overlooks the pool area and the garden.
Inside - in-house guests have the use of the sun filled conservatory that overlooks the pool and gardens, and of the cosy guest lounge. Enjoy afternoon tea or, in the cooler months, a mulled wine in front of the wood fire. Read a book or magazine, play a game from those provided, watch TV.
Outside - guests can take a dip, in summer, in the in-ground, solar heated, salt water pool; enjoy a BBQ in the entertainment area; or just relax amongst the roses and shady trees in the garden.
