Langi-Dorn is a Georgian style home set on 3.5 acres and is nestled in the beautiful bushland setting of the Lower Blue Mountains with spectacular views over Richmond and Windsor and is approximately 80 kilometres North West of Sydney on the rural side of the Blue Mountains at Kurrajong, on the famous Bellbird Hill amongst the Bellbirds. Close by are the historic towns of Windsor and Richmond.
We have two luxury private suites and can provide accommodation for up to eight people. Both suites offer private accommodation with their own entrance and have electric blankets, feather quilts, hair dryers, tea-making facilities, refrigerator, television and VCR.
On entering the property you will pass through a spectacular tunnel cut through the grove of giant bamboo. Before proceeding to the house, pause a while and listen to the bountiful bird life.
The house is a three story Georgian style home with ten-foot ceilings and ornate cornices. All of the windows, doors and joinery are hand crafted cedar and the floors are stained timber. The house is 75 squares in area using 85,000 bricks in the construction. We have done most of the building work, the woodwork is Bob's specialty and the decorating and gardening is Moira's effort.
The wildlife here has over the years put us to the test. The wallabies and possums love our roses and so do the rabbits, but then so do we !! Through trial and error we are discovering what they don't like and we are now all getting to like one another. Fortunately we are blessed with volcanic soil and a marvellous microclimate and there are very few plants that we can't grow. Our aim in the future is to recreate the rainforest that was here before the bamboo and lantana.
As there are bellbirds all around us we decided to use an aboriginal name for bellbird nest - "Langi-Dorn".
