Kallarroo Cottage offers a chance to explore a particularly beautiful corner of the Monaro, the high country region of southeast New South Wales. Set on a 1000 acre sheep and cattle property with sweeping views down a valley, the cottage is a self-contained log cabin fitted out in the rustic elegance style of a fishing or ski lodge.
Kallarroo Cottage is located in the coastal Kydra Range of mountains, with three kilometres of frontage on the Kydra River. It is near the historic village of Nimmitabel, roughly half way between the magnificent beaches of the NSW far south coast and the ski fields and fishing spots of the Snowy Mountains. It is two hours' drive from Canberra, 45 minutes from Cooma, and about an hour and a quarter from either Merimbula or Jindabyne.
Recently renovated, Kallarroo Cottage features a high wooden panel ceiling, a new kitchen, a barbecue terrace, and all modern appliances.
The ground floor comprises a large open plan kitchen/dining room, and a comfortable lounge room with an open fireplace. The mezzanine floor has a master bedroom, and a cozy second bedroom particularly attractive for children.
The property includes open farm land, tall old growth native forest, and streams, with a wide range of wildlife including kangaroos, wombats, wallabies, echidnas, platipuses and many colourful birds..
Kallarroo Cottage is available for rent as self-catering holiday accommodation, for up to six people. (Kallarroo also separately offers a much larger, grand homestead for holiday rental, suitable for bigger groups of guests. Please see separate listing for Kallarroo Homestead).
The minimum weekend stay is two nights, and three nights during the week. Rentals of a week or more attract a discounted rate.
ALSO AVAILABLE: In the same style but on a much larger scale, Kallarroo offers the Homestead, a grand country house done up in rustic elegance.
