A romantic historic retreat in an old orchard setting, boarded by the Kermandie River, where the platypus can be seen daily from the beautiful garden. Built in 1870 Cambridge House has been lovingly restored and exudes warmth, charm and comfort of the twenty first century.
Cambridge House was built by John Geeves, an Englishman from Fowlmere in Cambridgeshire. He was a founder member of Geeveston and owned a saw mill opposite the house, from whence the beautiful wood he used to build the house derived from. The House has had a chequered history, on one occasion in the 1920’s having gelignite thrown at the back door!!
It is a short walk to the shops and restaurants (300 metres) in the centre of the lovely village of Geeveston, and is central to the Hartz Mountains National Park, The Tahune Airwalk and the fabulous Hastings Caves, as well as some breathtaking beaches and stunning scenery.
The Guest Lounge with an open log fire in the cooler weather, a TV, DVD's, books, magazines and a selection of and games. The Lounge and Dining Room is exclusively for the use of guests. Ideal on those warm evenings to relax with a pre dinner drink in the grounds of the beautiful garden or just watching the platypus and Ducks feeding.
There are five rooms, all of which are named after the Geeves family members. Two queen sized bedrooms have ensuite facilities, one has a King Single in it as well, and there is one family room (One double bed plus two single beds), one twin-bedded room (One room with two single beds) and another double room. The latter three rooms are popular with group bookings.
There is also a lock-up garage facility for motor cycles and club members are welcome.
Cambridge House is 70 kilometres south of Hobart, on the A6 (Southern Outlet) passing through Huonville and then on to Geeveston. Continue 300 metres past geeveston on the way to Dover.
