Property Description

Tanonga is a unique place, created to enhance and enjoy nature. Indulge in the luxury of Tanonga. Two unique, architecturally designed eco lodges, each completely private and approx 1 km from each other and the homestead, set amongst regenerating native forest, create a luxury eco experience unique to this area. Enjoy maginficent views, walking trails, abundant bird and wildlife, local wine, and complete privacy. Nestle into the park-like bushland of our valley site, or soar with the eagles on our ridge site with stunning views to the sea. Escape to Tanonga; indulge in the luxury of nature. Committed to the health of their environment, and to environmentally sensitive and sustainable tourism, Michael and Jill employed an architect to purpose design the luxury eco lodges accommodation based on eco sensitive consideration. The principles applied to the eco sensitive constructions include; - In ground slab for thermal mass - Reverse veneer using limestone block interior as a high thermal insulator with careful attention to ventilation, retaining winter sun, and limiting summer sun - Insulation R2 up to R5, double glazing in south facing windows, attention to window orientations and size - Biolytix organic worm treatment for all waste water - Large north facing windows - Minimum water use fittings and energy efficient appliances - A stand alone power supply with the principal power source coming from solar energy and approx 4.8 hours available per day and a three day supply in summer - Rain water harvested in this pristine environment - Location interference minimised Your amenities including Perse organic hair products and body wash derived wholly from pure natural ingredients are dispensed to avoid wasteful packaging. Recycled or recyclable (PET) material is used for other guest amenities where packaging is unavoidable. Bed linen, towels and robes have been chosen to maximise the use of natural products and to ensure a quality experience. Local indigenous and other artists' work is featured on the walls. In addition to your delicious breakfast provisions, your kitchen is stocked with quality local olive oil. The bar is also stocked with local white and red wines, beer, soft drinks(charges apply). The Eyre Peninsula region is world renown for its top restaurant quality seafood. On request Michael and Jill also offer delicious catering packages of local fresh seasonal produce so you can enjoy your holiday without the trouble of sourcing your own food and beverages. Two days notice required. Explore the extensive walking trails and discover the natural billabong and permanent springs. Winter and early spring offer a vast array of flowering local plants and orchids as well as many birds which come to breed at Tanonga. November through to March is a special time when critically endangered Yellow tailed black cockatoos come to nest in the Allepo pines (Pinus halepensis) on the property. You may even wake up to find a Western Grey Kangaroo on your doorstep. At Tanonga, deliberate plantings of over 25,000 native trees, shrubs, understorey grasses and sedges recreate the sheoak grassy and sugar gum woodlands that once dominated this local landscape. There are over 100 recorded bird species in the area and specific attention has been paid to plantings which encourage birdlife, particularly for endangered, vulnerable and rare species such as the Yellow-Tailed Black Cockatoo. Tanonga is the perfect place to relax and recharge. Truly an eco paradise!
