Youll be sharing the serenity of the majestic Tuart trees with kangaroos, possums, a wide variety of native birdlife and only five other guestrooms. Share the lifestyle... The property, previously a grand private residence, is situated on almost nine acres of conservation-zoned Tuart and Peppermint woodland, adjacent to the south-western end of the Tuart Forest National Park. The 1200m2 home has been renovated, upgraded and converted to provide superb accommodation for you and your partner, and best of all, as we said, youll only be sharing it with up to 10 other lucky guests. The Guest Lodge features... Covered Porte Coche lobby entrance, chandeliered Lobby, The Morning Room (guest breakfast), spacious guest lounge with wood fire, indoor pool with infra-red sauna, large guest BBQ, microwave and fridge and wide lawns shaded by huge Tuart trees. Enjoy the escape, naturally... You can just laze around the pool, or on your north-aspect verandah, or take a stroll under the huge old Tuart Trees down to the edge of the Wonnerup Inlet or in the National Park next door. You'll enjoy the company of the locals like Western Grey Kangaroos, Western Brushtail and Ringtail Possums, Ospreys and whistling Kites, parrots, ducks, blue wrens and more. What's to eat? A-la-carte breakfast is served in the grand "Morning Room" and is prepared by Suzanne, previously of Gold Plate nominated "Maxwell's Cafe" and "Alixandra Farm Cafe". As it can get very busy here during peak times we will happily book you into one of our favorite local restaurants such as the Equinox or Capel Vale (recently voted the SW's best restaurant).

Things To Do

Inn the Tuarts Guest Lodge is located on the south western boundary of the Tuart Forest National Park and around 500m from Wonnerup Inlet, so there are plenty of nature-based activities at our doorstep. A little further away (about 2km) is Wonnerup House one of the National Trust WA's premier historic rural properties, and following Layman Rd just another kilometre takes you to the sparkling shores of Geographe Bay for swimming, fishing, boating and more. You can continue on past Port Geographe Marina to Busselton Jetty (currently under restoration until 2010), and town with its many cafe's, restaurants, pubs, shops, and galleries. The world-renowned Margaret River Wine region starts in the Busselton Shire and is a short drive away, as are the famed beaches of Dunsborough, Yallingup and Margaret River.

Travel Directions

Finding us is very easy... From PERTH/BUNBURY - approx. 2 hours: Travel south on the brand new freeway to Bunbury, and follow the signs through the big roundabout to Busselton and Augusta. The dual carriageway continues south for around 25km, then only around 3km after passing the turnoff to Capel, turn right into the clearly marked Tuart Forest Tourist Drive. After 12km travel past the Layman Rd roundabout with Wonnerup House turn off. Continue straight ahead on the Tuart Drive for a further 1km, then turn right into Rushleigh Rd. Inn The Tuarts Guest Lodge is 190m on the left. It is not visible from the road so travel slowly down the paved driveway, keeping left, and enter under the covered Porte Coche. From: BUSSELTON/(MARGARET RIVER) - approx. 5 min: Travel north west on the dual carriageway Bussell Highway towards Bunbury and Perth for approx. 4km from the big roundabout. Turn left into the clearly marked Tuart Forest Tourist Drive. Travel north west for a further 1-1½km passing Tall Timber Drive into the Inlet Park subdivision before turning left in to Rushleigh Rd. From: NANNUP/MANJIMUP/PEMBERTON and south via Sue's Rd When heading roughly north on either the Vasse Highway or Sue's Rd do not turn left towards Busselton at the intersection but continue on Sue's Rd towards Capel and Bunbury. Sue's Rd ends as a T-junction at Bussell Highway, turn left towards Busselton for around 1km, merging across to the right lane. Turn right into the Tuart Forest Tourist Drive, and continue north west for approx 1½km to Rushleigh Rd. IMPORTANT - DANGER! watch for kangaroos on Tuart Drive and Rushleigh Rd, especially around dusk and early evening!

The Capel Twin

Bedding configuration:2 Single Beds Vibrant in lustrous Royal Orchid and White, the Capel twin is our only twin room. Like all our other rooms it features individually controlled whisper quite Fujitsu reverse cycle air conditioning, Sheridan covers and Digital LCD TV and DVD. Ideal for two guests who are not a couple, the ensuite features a separate powder room WC with small vanity and the shower with adjustable massage hand shower in its own room. The Capel has sliding door access to the north aspect varandah and enjoys wide views across the lawns, through the Tuarts towards the Vasse-Wonnerup wetlands.
The Geographe Room

Bedding configuration:1 Queen Bed The ambience is cool and relaxed in beiges, whites and blue. Queen bed room with whisper quiet Fujitsu reverse cycle air conditioning, Digital LCD TV and DVD, Sheridan Covers, WA made 5 star mattress, sliding glass door access to the north aspect verandah with views towards the Vasse-Wonnerup Estuary. The ensuite features an adjustable hand shower over a bath, ceramic WC with soft-close lid and all-ceramic vanity. (Due to the bath we don't recommend this room to guests who may experience difficulty climbing over its edge, although a grab rail is provided)
The Ludlow Room

Bedding configuration:1 Queen Bed The feel is naturally chic in soft greens, grey and silver. The Ludlow room has its own private north-aspect verandah with lovely rural views towards the Vasse-Wonnerup wetlands. It features a timber queen-size bed with WA made 5 star mattress, Sheridan covers, 19 in Digital LCD TV and DVD, Remote controlled Reverse-cycle Fujitsu air conditioning, and sliding glass door access to the verandah. The ensuite bathroom features a ceramic WC with soft-closing seat, vanity with all ceramic top and a shower with adjustable massage hand-shower.
The Reinscourt Suite

Bedding configuration:1 Queen Bed Features include turned post Queen bed with matched large mirrored dressing table and bedsides, 5 star mattress and Sheridan covers, 22in Digital LCD TV and DVD, Whisper quiet individually controlled reverse-cycle Fujitsu air conditioning, spacious north-facing verandah, and a dressing room with masses of robe space for storage. The fully tiled en-suite bathroom has a curved glass shower featuring an adjustable massage hand-shower, large vanity, WC and 2-person spa with gold-plate fittings.
The Vasse Suite

Bedding configuration:1 Queen Bed + 1 rollaway Resplendent in pearlescent blue and white, this room is a little larger at around 35m2. It features a timber queen-size bed with WA made 5 star mattress, Sheridan covers, 19in LCD TV, remote controlled Reverse-cycle Fujitsu air conditioning, and sliding glass door access to a semi-private courtyard within the indoor pool area. It also has a small room adjacent to the bathroom, which can accommodate an extra single bed, if needed, or be a private space to read.
The Wonnerup Suite

Bedding configuration:1 Queen Bed The room features a colonial timber bed with matching side tables and WA made 5 star mattress, Sheridan covers, whisper quiet Fujitsu individually controlled air conditioning, and sliding glass door access to the sauna and indoor pool. This room also has direct access to the Guest Lounge, which you'll have almost to yourself at times.Its a restful place for a conversation, or to read or enjoy a board game.
